The Yakima Convention Center served as the venue for all conference sessions and registration.

Rotary Pavillion at Franklin Park Thursday Evening May 1 - Fiesta/Picnic:

Mexican themed picnic at Rotary Pavillion at Franklin Park and Yakima Valley Museum.

Friday Morning and Afternoon May 2 - Fun Activities:

We offered a number of activities for Rotarians and guests including tours and golf and walks. Click here for details or click the Activities menu button.


Friday Afternoon May 2 and Saturday Morning and Afternoon May 3 - Club Displays:

Throughout the day, there were displays by district clubs to present information about their clubs and club projects. This was an opportunity to show what our clubs have been doing for service projects locally and internationally.

Friday Evening May 2 - Home Hosting:

Home hosting provided dinner and venues for fellowship. These gatherings of several Rotarians and guests occurred in the homes of local Rotary Club members. Members of all three Yakima Rotary clubs served as hosts and hostesses.

Saturday Morning May 3 - Plenary Session:

The plenary sessions were conducted by Bob DiPietro, president-elect of the Yakima rotary Club . Click here to get a flavor of Bob's presentation style as he explained to Yakima Rotary several months ago how the subprime lending crisis of 2008 occurred.

Plenary sessions began with a presentation by REGINALD T. W. NICHOLS, Ed.D. Rev. Dr. Nichols has served as a senior educational executive, international and global program initiator, community service practitioner, and fund development professional in the United States and around the world for the past 30 years. Most recently, after seven years at the helm as the fourth President of The Piney Woods School in Mississippi, Dr. Nichols is currently focusing on his passion of "Advancing Diversity through Leadership" in his consulting practice. Dr. Nichols is a dynamic and inspirational speaker.
General Barry McCaffrey

Saturday Afternoon May 3 - Plenary Session:

This plenary session was highlighted by a presentation from GENERAL BARRY R. McCAFFREY, USA (Ret.). Barry McCaffrey served in the United States Army for 32 years and retired as a four-star General. At retirement in 1996, he was the most highly decorated serving General, having been awarded three Purple Heart medals (wounded in combat three times), two Distinguished Service Crosses (the nation's second highest award for valor) and two Silver Stars for valor. Currently, General McCaffrey is President of his own consulting firm based in Alexandria, Virginia

Saturday Afternoon May 3 - Break-out Sessions

These included a seminar explaining the methodolgy of applying for and receiving grants from Rotary International Foundation, a session explaining the function and design of a new district wide database and website functionality, a session on how to successfully start and foster Interact Clubs in high schools, and a session on the fine points of recruiting and sustaining our members.

Doug Vincent

Saturday Evening May 3 - Banquet:

Featured speaker was PDG Douglas W. Vincent who was the delightful personal representative of Rotary International President Ron Burton. His presentation was inspiring and his showmanship was great as he and our own Governor Darrell Blue celebrated governor's Rotary theme for this year "Engage in the Magic of Rotary". There was lots of real magic and inspiration.



Kristi Govertson

Sunday Morning May 4 - Plenary Session:

This session focused on our youth and was highlighted by a presentation by Rotarian KRISTI GOVERTSEN. A trainer, speaker, and author from Portland, Oregon, Kristi Govertsen works with emerging leaders, empowering them to access their creativity, enthusiasm, and influence to make their organizations, communities, and the world a better place. She is a self described Rotary Membership Nerd with wonderful insights about how to promote Rotary membership and what not to do as we seek new members to join us.
